MEET ASHLEY

Originally from Upstate New York, Ashley C. Lhérisson, Esq. graduated from Columbia Law School and is licensed to practice law in New York, California, and the District of Columbia. For the past 5 years, Ashley has been named a Top 40 under 40 Lawyer by The National Black Lawyers. Ashley has also been recognized by the National Association of Women Lawyers, on their 2022 Rising Lawyers List.

Previously, Ashley served as a law clerk for a federal judge and had the opportunity to do legal research and writing for cases from the Second Circuit, Ninth Circuit, and Eleventh Circuit, as well as trade cases.

Ashley graduated valedictorian of her high school class after skipping the 11th grade and was accepted to Columbia University early decision at 16 years old. In 2012, Ashley graduated with honors from Columbia with a B.A. in Political Science. Prior to attending law school Ashley worked as a white-collar crime legal assistant at Skadden, Arps, Slate Meagher & Flom LLP and as a general litigation paralegal at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. 

During the summer before law school, Ashley interned at Linklaters LLP through the Seizing Every Opportunity (SEO) Law Career Program.  In her first year at Columbia Law, Ashley participated in the Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition, winning the region's Best Brief Award, and later served as the Regional Moot Court Director. She also served in leadership roles for Columbia Law Women's Association and the Black Law Students Association. During the summer after her first year of law school, Ashley became a Diversity Fellow at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, winning a $10,000 scholarship.    

In her second year, Ashley joined the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law, where she later served as an Articles Editor and also participated in the Lawyering in the Digital Age Clinic. Ashley spent her 2L summer at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP assisting with assignments from their Criminal Defense & Investigations Group.  Ashley was also named a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, one of Columbia Law's two distinct academic honors.

In her last year at Columbia Law, Ashley worked as a Judicial Extern at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Ashley also served as a Civil Procedure Teaching Assistant and had the opportunity to take a white-collar crime class with a judge from the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.  After completing all of her course requirements a semester early, Ashley spent her final semester of law school serving as a Pro Bono Scholar and devoted over 560 hours to pro bono work.  

Ashley currently works as Counsel at a top law firm and as an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University School of Law, where she teaches Legal Research and Writing to first year law students. In her free time, Ashley serves as Co-Chair of the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) Junior Leadership Board and Co-President and Executive Director of the Pipeline to Practice Foundation Board. From 2020 to 2022, Ashley served as the Governance Chair of the Ms. JD Board of Directors.

Ashley passed the February 2017 New York Bar Exam, the July 2017 California Bar Exam, and was sworn into the D.C. Bar in November 2020.
