MEET AVANTHI

CONSULTANT

Avanthi is an intellectual property attorney originally from Princeton, NJ. After initially pursuing a degree in Molecular Biology, she was among the first students to major in African American Studies at Princeton University. After graduating from college in 2018, Avanthi earned her JD from Columbia Law School in 2021. At Columbia, she developed a strong interest in intellectual property law through courses on copyright, trademarks, and patents. She competed as a member of the Frederick Douglass Moot Court team, and served as a staff editor for the Columbia Journal of Race and Law, where her note "For the Wealthy and Legally Savvy: The Weaknesses of the Uniform Partition of Heirs Property Act as Applied to Low-Income Black Property Owners" was selected for publication. In her 3L year, she externed at Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, supporting low-income artists with legal challenges.

Avanthi began her legal career at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom as an intellectual property litigation associate and later joined Latham & Watkins, where she expanded her practice to include copyright and patent disputes for clients in industries ranging from social media to pharmaceuticals. She is currently an associate at Cowan, Liebowitz & Latman in New York, where she handles complex trademark, copyright, and cybersquatting disputes before federal courts, the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and the International Trade Commission. Her practice also includes strategic counseling on IP protection, licensing, and enforcement.

Avanthi is dedicated to supporting students as they navigate the law school application process. She takes pride in mentoring and advising students, aiming to provide the kind of guidance she wishes she had during her own journey to law school.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Avanthi enjoys reading, making music, strength training, and analog photography. She is also a proud pet parent to her cat, Goldie.
